I've gone through the patches for the virtio drivers in recenty FreeBSD 8.4 and 8-STABLE and have updated the virtio patch for pfSense 2.1.
If things work up, this would give us virtio SCSI and a fix for Rx filters plagueing those with QEMU 1.4 an newer like used by Proxmox VE 2.3 and newer.

Although Chris mentioned they also have some Proxmox nearby, if you have Proxmox VE or another KVM
try to give the upcoming builds a try using virtio devices - it should also contain other virtio related fixes.
(if you can 'kldload virtio_scsi' you are using a snapshot with the newer drivers).

        Sounds interesting.

I have a test machine running pfsense 2.1 with old snaphot on PVE 2.2.
Will do a PVE update and try the newer snapshots of pfsense because I had some problem with CPU detection.

        Thank you for your work!
