      The problem is that sysctl net.link.ether.inet.carp_mac always 0 after reboot. Even if it's defined as 1 (net.link.ether.inet.carp_mac=1)in /etc/sysctl.conf

        This is pfSense and we like to do things from the GUI :)
        Go to advanced tunables and set the value there.
