Dynamic registration in DNS fails when in DHCP tab
-
I'm writing this on the snapshots board since I'm yet stuck on a elder (February '13) 2.1 beta build until downtime next week allows proper upgrade.
Anyhow, until now I've been using "Register DHCP leases in DNS forwarder" on the DNS forwarder config - but I have a subdomain per VLAN/network internall like mgmt.example.org wireless.example.org whereas the DNS clients got registered in dnsmasq (via dhcpleases) as <hostname>.example.org.
In the DHCP tab I saw "Enable registration of DHCP client names in DNS." and set wireless.example.org for the DHCP server of this VLAN.
Unfortunately it continues to register clients as <hostname>.example.org as long as first option is enabled. - And clients won't be registered when this first option is disabled.Question is: Is registration with specified <subdomain>.example.org registration possible feature - and if so - how can I get it working? :-)</subdomain></hostname></hostname>

That is a different mechanism entirely. That causes the client to trigger a DNS update on a "real" DNS server (e.g. BIND) via host update and it doesn't interact with dnsmasq at all.
