      Hello,

We have an installation of pfsense in a PC, with the following packages installed:

      • Snort (not enabled)
      • Snort dashboard widget (enabled)
      • ntop (enabled)
      • Bandwidthd (enabled)
      • OpenVPN client export (enabled)

I have enabled some VLANs as well.

I need to transfer the conf to an Alix box and have it as a backup device, in case the PC fails.

I export the conf from PC and change the corresponding if names to the Alix ones, and then load the conf to Alix. The conf loads fine but it takes a looong time to. Then the Alix is becoming unresponsive.

Shall I remove the snort package before I export the conf?

Is there something else that I must look/change?

      Best regards

      Kostas

Backup using Do NOT backup package information.  Then restore config on PC, and reinstall the packages.

          Thank you!

Will this keep the package configuration when I reinstall the packages?

          Best regards

As you can see on the screenshot, we said to not keep configuration info.

So I will have to re-configure the packages, if needed. Not really an issue in the particular situation, but for other installations.
