I've had to do some recent additions here for a few /27 networks to our firewall configuration.  I found a way to leverage the excel developer options to work with a source config XML so I can quickly add a bunch of entries to nat rules etc.  Once exported the files need some basic search/replace to clean them up but otherwise it saves a ton of time compared to manully entering every address into the UI screens one by one.

I'm wondering if a guide already exists, where I would find it, and how I would go about writing up and submitting one if not.

There is no such guide that I'm aware of. If you write one, it may live here on the forum, perhaps as a sticky. I'm not sure that's a practice we'd want to actively encourage through putting it on the wiki, since there is quite a lot of room for error when making any changes to the config, especially automated changes.
