      2.1-RC0  (amd64)
built on Sat Jul 13 15:09:24 EDT 2013

      FreeBSD 8.3-RELEASE-p8
I made a certificate for 36500 day and I got:
      Valid From: Tue, 06 Aug 2013 10:43:26 +0000
      Valid Until: Sat, 13 Jul 2013 10:43:26 +0000

The certificate itself shows the right time.

PHP's OpenSSL library returns the wrong timestamp for validTo_time_t when reading from the certificate that far out. No easy fix for that one that I can see.

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_2038_problem

Restrict yourself to the year 2037.

Yup, thought 100 years would be nifty myself. I chose 36524 days, of course, to accomodate for leap years. I didn't want to end up afew days too short… ;-) ...and, despite my ultimate smartness, ended up in the same situation as you.
