Assume your WAN just drops off temporarily, or DNS stops working on reboot, or whatever similar. The boot essentially gets stuck forever attempting to reinstall packages (is there no timeout at all?), and when you abort it (^C), you end up with empty packages list. Is there at least some manual way to "resume" this once the WAN comes back, instead of digging up what you actually had installed before (or switching back to the "old" slice)?

Diagnostics -> Backup/Restore has a "Reinstall packages" button at the bottom. Does that work?
