2nd Setup

Hi,
Ok…I am thinking of running pfsense as a dedicated balancer / failover device with the following hardware:
2 gig RAM
Core 2 Duo Processor
Intel NICsIt is intended to serve three (3) lan segments that have a maximum 150 users per segment with actual users per segment over a five day period playing between 70 - 95 users.
Can the Hardware take it?

Whats your WAN speed? The lan segments will take care of internal LAN routing and the Core 2 Duo should very easily be able to handle 100+ users. But all depends on how much WAN throughput you are looking to provide to the users. What about packages like Squid, Snort..etc?

- WAN speeds are 2 ADSL Lines @ up to 11mbps
- Planning to deploy squid, squidguard and captive portal.. .

You will do just fine.
