Nice one and congrats !
Will the version 2.2-XX be based on the current master of git (the one with tons of pull request that haven't been put on the 2.1 branch) ?
-
Release?
But what about the enless calls for added features and packages?
I was hoping to get the jedi light sabre add on package integrated so I can use pfsense for home defence! :(
Don't worry, there's an even BETTER package in the works: the TF2 Sentry Gun brains are being ported from Raspbian to pfSense! What, don't you believe me?
And MAJOR CONGRATS to Chris and his team!! WOOHOO! But, um, BTW…you DID find the FreeBSD NSA backdoor and removed it, right?
-
NSA has a back door in my FreeBSD? That would suck… :-
They already have the key to my front door :-X :-X :-XWhich has me thinking... The robotic sentry control package would be nice :P
Maybe you can put in the good word and get it rolled in or added as a package option before the release is released?
You have 1 hour... GO! -

Yes, the current master/HEAD branch is what will eventually become 2.2 on a FreeBSD 10.x base.

That are loooong 24 hours :)

That are loooong 24 hours :)
Perhaps the pfSense developers found one of the NSA backdoors and are doing a last-minute patch :o

Downloads page won't load. Not sure if good sign or random downtime. I will stay optimistic.

Or…maybe they were 'talked-into' putting one...eh
LOL I confess that thought crossed my mind too. What do you do if a government person comes to your door and asks you to work with them? And they remind you the IRS is their "pit bull".

Being that the pfSense team are quite obviously committed to the principles of open source and all the decency and transparency that implies, I doubt they would destroy their labour of love by turning it into common spyware.
I will call the NSA, however, as I need them to restore a bunch of emails I deleted by mistake ;)
-
Get real… The NSA doesn't have storage for all that superfluous crap in your email... Thats why they can't violate you.

are we there yet? ;D
24-48 hrs seems to be stuck in space time continuum. lol

Here is a link to get pfsense 2.1 official release INSTANTLY.

I haven't tried this method yet…

Any feedback would be super nice…
-
Thinking about starting a all forum protest with huge banners demanding a response ;D ;D ;D
-
And, if they are anything like me, the response to that would be to check the code for an extra day or two just to be sure before releasing ;)
I'm just gonna chill. Its coming.

Just to be clear, and yes..yes..I know this isn't 'on topic'
The NSA has drill down capability on live data. They can pull up your country and type the key word "Bank Manager" and every node that recorded those words will pop up and then they can drill down into your region, your state, your community and eventually to you. Then they can do an association to connect the dots of communications originating from all your registered devices to see who and what you or your device has been talking to, then they can do the same drill down to any of your associates and who they in turn have been communicating to.
They don't need to listen anymore. They cast a wide net, collect all data and AI computers with word association and emotion lists will sift through, highlight, and alert their human counterparts.
They listened to a conversation in Russia, in the forest back in the 80's from outer space…so I don't think we can imagine quite completely what their capabilities are today and why would you anyway...
In any case, to think Pfsense is in anyway 'safe' from them is simply naive. We're talking about people who created the stuxnet virus to penetrate Nuclear systems and eff them up, ok.
