Xml error: no pfsense object found!

Hy guys!
I'm writting this to try to know what a little trouble that happens with some of my pfsense installations;
Have you had any kind of trouble with pfsense corrupting the filesystem?? well, I have :(
Yesterday someone has told me that "internet" was not UP; I checked and noticed that pfsensed was stopped in non finished reboot… when I saw that, I knew that something wrong happened and could be damaged the box; really it does; I noticed that my dhcp server doesnt started, then checked that pfsense dhcpd conf file disapear... trying to open /var/log/messages or other logs I saw strange characters in the end of the file, sometimes in the full file, meaning that the file system was corrupted...
This is 3rd time it happens to me with pfsense in a couple years; in all of then, pfsense cannot start servers, cannot even start itself; I donot remember all the errors that appears on screen, but that above is sure! only once I could start manually my LAN nic and make a complete backup of my installation, copying some RRD graphs, squid access.log file and Proxy Report file. In the 1st and 2nd time I'm sure that there weren't any power supply interruption; the box was rebooted one or twice; in the operation it appear to have corrupted the file system; first time I was using an ide harddisk; 3rd a sata disk...
So my question is: why does this happens? when I'm going to install pfsense may I use linux filesystem? which would it be? reiser, ext3? is there any way of fortifying my install in order that it could no be so vulnerable??
thanks a lot

Which version are you running? There are known corruption issues in 1.0x and earlier releases, 1.2RC2 is the current recommended release.

I had this problem with 0.9, and now with 1.2rc1 and rc2 in the last week…
I my bios is configured with lba disabled and I entered manually the hard disk geometry, that was checked with linux.
freebsd filesystem is jornalized? cannot we install it using reiserfs or xfs??
thanks a lot!

You shouldn't be seeing this anymore. It used to happen under certain circumstances, but nobody has reported it in any 1.2 versions. It's not an issue of the file system, the file system fsck's at boot if it wasn't properly unmounted and will recover itself just fine.
Could you boot the system off the live CD next time this happens, fsck and mount the file system, and scp the broken config.xml off the box, then send it to me? If you'll do that, I'll provide more detailed info on what needs to be done.

In a linux box I really could do that without problem; I'm new in bsd systems and am trying to know the system commands that are similar in linux in order to try to fix when something bad happens; to tell you the truth, I really didnt remembered that I could mount the filesystem using a live CD and fsck it; In the last time it happened, I reinstalled the system using one earlyer version (1.2rc2) and changed my UPS (the last one wasnt working properly, breaking the energy supply for the pf box) and hope, it will never (at least for ups reasons) will happen again; but if it does, then I may try to copy some config.xml for you!
I'm trying to read a little about bsd, in the future it will be easyer to me to help you with this!
thanks again!
