      Hello everybody,
I have an alix 2d3. I would like to run pfsense on it. From my linux compuiter I did a

      zcat pfSense-2.1-RELEASE-4g-i386-nanobsd.img.gz | dd of=/dev/sdh bs=16k

I configured the alix to run in 9600 bauds. However when i boot, on my serial interface I see the boot menu
      1 pfsense
      2 pfsense

And it doesn't boot, if I try to press 1 I have a # that appears, nothing more.
Do you have any idea what might go wrong ?

      Thank you very much

My bad, I bought the card thinking it was an alix 2d3, it is in fact a wrap 1e… I installed a pfsense 2.0.1 on it and it works, apparently there is a problem with the booting method of nanobsd.

The WRAP BIOS is too old to understand how to properly boot NanoBSD. There are some articles on how to help it, but ultimately, the WRAP is too underpowered to be of much use these days.

I have the opportunity of buying an alix 2d3 for a good price (50 euros), do you think I should update ?

Depends what your requirements are. Is the WRAP performing OK in your network?

I have some slow downs sometimes. The thing is 128mf of ram is apparently not enought for the last release of pfsense, so it might bring me some trouble in the near futur.
Not having a firewall up to date doesn't reassure me

Sounds like you want to upgrade then.  ;) 50Euros is a good price.

There have been a number of security updates since 2.0.1. Most of them are only internally exploitable. It's up to you really. Look through the release notes in the blog.
