      Hey all,

      I am trying to install pfsense on a laptop. From what I've read the Broadcom 4318 should be supported.

      I am getting errors similar to listed in this post http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=62750.0.

      bwi_v3_ucode could not load firmware image, error 17 pfsense
      bwi0: request firmware bwi_v3_ucode failed
      bwi0: bwi_init_statechq: error 12 on MAC init

      I've also see these errors:

      firmware_register: cannot register image bwi_v3_ucode ... firmware table full!

      bwi0: HOSTAP mode not supported

      bwi0: need multicast update callback

      From hours of research I have read about needing to install the bwi firmware called: ports/net/bwi-firmware-kmod

      But I think that is built into 8.3. If not, I need someone to help me step-by-step understand how to install it.

      I have made it so my /boot/loader.conf.local looks like this:

      if_bwi_load="YES"
      bwi_v3_ucode="YES"
      runfw_load="YES"

      my kldstat looks like this:

      1... kernel
      2... bwi_v3_ucode.ko
      3... runfw.ko
      4... zfs.ko
      5... opensolaris.ko

      Notice that the if_bwi is not in there. I cannot find it in /boot/kernel either.

      If I do kldload if_bwi.ko I get: kldload: can't load if_bwi.ko: No such file or directory

      Please help. I hope someone has solved this.

      Thanks in advance!
