WRAP + microdrive full install
-
Hi all,
I have just updated wiki for a quick step install on a microdrive with WRAP platform.
http://devwiki.pfsense.org/FullInstallOnWRAP
I was using VirtualBox on Windows XP, Hitachi microdrive 4 Go (from Ebay), USB CF adapter.
I hope it could help. Please, leave your comment if you find something wrong.

It should be much easier to accommodate this now that we have the embedded kernel option during the full install. Have you tried that method, and skipping all the manual running of commands?

Maybe with a true IDE-CF adapter, it would be much more easier.
Is there any other option to boot Live CD on a WRAP (PXE?)
PS : for you information I will receive my new ALIX board next week. I will post install test after :)

You will find it works much better on an ALIX board - if you plan to do a full install I hope you got the 256-meg version :) as it seems to work very well in a developer's version with the additional memory.
I have one of the ALIX boards with a 8-gig CF card installed and it has the developer's version loaded and running.

You can install to the microdrive using any machine, then move it into the WRAP/ALIX. Either with a IDE to CF adapter, or booting a machine with a USB CF writer. I typically do the latter. Can also use VMware's USB redirection.
