Hey guys, I will admit right away that i am a beginning Linux Sysadmin, and BSD in general confuses the hell out of me.

That said, I have been unable to get any sort of fan speed control on this motherboard: Tyan S2735-8M. I would like to be able to spin down the fans to at least 1/4 speed.

The problem is: When i run 'sysctl -a | grep "dev.cpu.*.temperature"' I get zero output, and 'sysctl hw.acpi.thermal' gives me a module doesn't exist (or something like that) response. Also, mbmon is  unable to see any temp information. The Motherboard supports acpi 2.0 for the fan speed control as well as temperature sensors, so i guess i don't know what else to look at (in FreeBSD). Is there a FreeBSD equivalent to /dev/proc that might help me? or is there some way of sending hex codes to the PWM controllers? any Assistance would be appreciated.

How is the fan controlled on that board? Via the superio chip? Are there any fan control options in the BIOS that might give a clue?
