Proxy_monitor.sh freezes at bootup

  • hello…

i've recently installed pfsense ver 1.0.1, since it's the latest stable release, i trust that most, if not all, of the services will work with little or no problem... i've managed to setup and run dhcpd and proxy server, but when i reboot the machine it freezes on the section:

    Executing rc.d items...
          Stopping /usr/local/etc/rc.d/proxy_monitor.sh...

i also installed the lightsquid package for log monitoring of the proxy server, but when i tried to see the Lightsquid Report tab, i get the LightSquid diagnotic page with the error message:

    LigthSquid diagnostic.
Error : report folder '/var/lightsquid/report' not contain any valid data! Please run lightparser.pl (and check 'report' folder content)
    Please check config file !

    Variable                                         value
    $tplpatph                                       /usr/local/www/lightsquid/tpl
    $templatename                                   base
    $langpatph                                       /usr/local/share/lightsquid/lang
    $langname                                     eng
    $reportpath                                       /var/lightsquid/report
    Access to '/var/lightsquid/report' folder yes

    folder content:

when i try to connect remotely to the pfsense machine thru ssh, i get the command menu lists with no problem... it's just the boot-up sequence i've mentioned earlier and the logging of lightsquid that im having problem with... i may have missed out something here and im hoping that you guys can help me out :)

here's the list of the packages i've currently installed in my pfsense machine:

    Pakage Name          Version
    Lightsquid              1.7.1_1
    imspector                0.3.1
    squid                      2.6.5_1-p15
    sshterm                  0.1

any links, tips, docs and info is very much appreciated... TIA guys :)

  • The recommended and most stable release is 1.2RC3 from here:
    http://snapshots.pfsense.org/FreeBSD6/RELENG_1_2/

1.0 has a lot of known issues long since resolved in 1.2, and we aren't able to release 1.0 updates so we recommend everyone run the latest 1.2 RC. RC3 will be officially released tonight, but it's the same as you'll find in the above link.

  • hello…

thank you very much... i'll give it a try today... will let u know if it turns out fine or not :)

    best regards...

    You need:

    • enable and define in squid package log dir as '/var/squid/log'
    • have any data on this log
    • click Refresh now button on Lightsquid GUI.
