      Hi,

I'm using the BETA 1.0 on a pc with 80 GB hd, when I try to install, the partition wizard doesn't work. I get the error:

      ,-<<< Executing ' /sbin/fdisk -v -f /tmp/new.fdisk ad0'
      | ******* Working on device /dev/ad0 *******
      | fdisk : WARNING line 1 : number of cylinders (39420) may be
      out-of-range
      | (mus be within 1-1024 for normal BIOS operation, unless the entire
      disk
      | is dedicated to FreeBSD)
      | fdisk: ERROR line 1: number of sectors must be within (1-63)
      '->>> Exit status: 1

      I've  followed all instructions from:
      http://wiki.pfsense.com/wikka.php?wakka=BootTroubleShooting

      but without results.
The only solution was the reduction of the size to 32 Gb. May be the problem arises on the partition script.

      Regards

      Diego

          Can you try out http://www.pfsense.com/~sullrich/1.0-BETA1-TESTING-SNAPSHOT-2-19-06/pfSense.iso.gz

Also, set the BIOS to CHS mode for this drive (there is a bug in fdisk)… http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=bin/90093

I get the same error, the BIOS doesn't support  CHS mode for the hd drive.

will try with another disk, but I only have problems with the 80 Gb Hd.

            Regards

            Diego

The solution is, make the partitions with a freeBSD installation CD and then install the pfsense, skiping the partition wizard.
                Now is working. ;D

Yep, sysinstall works around the problem when you hit the edge case (bug).
