Still having upgrade issues on Alix
-
Hello-
A while back I posted here https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,66588.msg364085.html#msg364085 describing issues I was having when upgrading an alix 2d13 from 2.03 to 2.1. I never really got the disk full issue resolved.
I know I need to keep up so I decided to try the upgrade again using auto updater from 2.03 to 2.1. I had the /var full again issue again, though oddly enough increasing it to 80mb and rebooting make it drop to less than 20%. Perhaps it was the additional reboot, I'm not sure.
Anyway, since the upgrade PHP seems to chew on the cpu at times, sending the load well over 5. However, even when it settles down, I see these errors in the system log (using captive portal):
Jan 26 02:45:12 dim lighttpd[34927]: (mod_evasive.c.183) 10.10.10.140 turned away. Too many connections. Jan 26 02:57:34 dim lighttpd[34927]: (mod_evasive.c.183) 10.10.10.83 turned away. Too many connections.
I couldn't really find too much about this. Does this mean someone is being denied access to the captive portal? Or something else? I just feel like the 2.03 to 2.1 upgrade wasn't smooth (especially with the disk issue) and a wipe/clean install may be necessary. I'm trying to avoid that if possible as the box is very remote.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

so this actually seems to be a nano related upgraded; i had similar behavior when upgrading another non-alix box running nano.
in any case, i just decided to wipe and start fresh with 2.1. all is well.
