Possible useful info re: slow/lockup on boot (not related to ACPI)
-
Have a box here that we're playing with RC2 on and ran into the slow boot and/or lockup issue where the "spinner" rotates super-slow for hours instead of zipping by in a second or two.
We did a little searching and found some references to this being caused by the BIOS ACPI settings. We tried disabling that to no avail. After some experimentation we discovered that it only happened when the keyboard was unplugged! (It's a Foxconn mbd.)
This is just an FYI for anyone running into this problem but if anybody has a workaround so we don't have to have a keyboard plugged in for remote reboots…?
