      Hi Everyone,

Recently, I tried to revive old hardware to run it as a firewall.
I have managed to install a 4GB version of pfsense into a pair of IP560 and would like to know how can I test out the throughput performance of the boxes.
Is iperf a good tool to test the raw throughput?

      Appreciate any good advice.

Whilst iperf may not be a perfect simulator of real world conditions it has the big advantage of being used by a lot of pfSense users making comparison easy. Make sure you use separate machines to run the server client, not the firewall, and use same frame size. The default frame size seems to vary between build versions and ports.

          Steve,

          Thanks for the info.
I will test it out and post my results out once I have time to work on it.
