Netgate FW-7541 BTO + Draytek 120
-
Hi All
I was going to build my own pfsense box but when I saw the Netgate FW-7541 BTO at:
http://store.netgate.com/Netgate-FW-7541-BTO-P1893.aspx
I thought I'd rather buy this excellent box. I will be purchasing it with 4GB of RAM and the Intel 530 SSD drive.
My question I have is, can I use this Netgate firewall with a Draytek 120 modem? I'll be using this firewall with my ADSL connection.
Appreciate the help and I can't wait to start using pfsense :)

Yes.
I don't have an FW-7541 but I do use Draytek V120. It works great with pfSense in its default PPPoA-PPPoE bridge mode.
Where are you using this modem?Steve

Thanks Steve
I'll be using this in Jersey, Channel Islands. My broadband is an ADSL connection with Newtel. I currently have a Draytek 2820vn which has been working great for 5yrs but its time to upgrade to pfsense!

Ah, well no idea about Jersey but it works fine on the UK mainland. ;)
I did have some issues with firmware when I first got it, there are many versions to choose from. It's detailed in a thread here.Steve

Would you mind posting the link to the thread please?
I plan on using the Netgate with the Draytek 120 for about a year or so and then I'd probably be moving to Fibre when it becomes available in my area. I really like what I have read about the Netgate so far and pfsense 2.1. Only drawback is that the Atom CPU doesn't support AES-NI but thats no big deal for me.
I assume I can upgrade pfsense on this box to 2.2 when it comes out?

If you search the forum for 'v120 firmware' you'll see a few pages where I've mentioned it.
Also there is quite a long thread on the Plusnet forum discussing the V120 and various firmwares here:
