Big Trouble…

Hey guys and gals…
Got my self into hot water with the misses and the kids and im running out of ideas. so of course i come here with questions to make everyone happy again.Last night I installed Active Directory and Exchange, paired the server into the domain, added the laptops and created a VPN tunnel.
As far as that went i thought it went great... well missed one thing...I cannot see my PS3 media server anywhere on the network and everyone is unhappy as they dont have access to the media.
Nohting has changed besides the DNS server was pointed at the AD box, which is set to forward the rest of the DNS to the psSense box which in turn is pointed at the google DNS servers.Anyways...
Any input would be greatly appreciated ! -
Can you access the PS3 media server by IP address?
Did you define the name for the PS3 media server in Active Directory DNS?
AD DNS will now be authoritative for your domain, so if it does not know the name it will return NXDOMAIN straight away. The request will not be referred to your pfSense (which might have the name in its DNS Forwarder Host Overrides). -

Yes, I can access RDC on my NAS and PS3 Media Server is functional but its not present on the network as a service.

Nope… thought it did that automatically on the network.

How do I "copy" on the AD DNS into to and from my pfSense box ??

I don't think a PS3 Media Server is going to be able to register its name in Active Directory. On the Windows Server you can just go to Srart->Administrative (something)->DNS Server. Open up the folder tree there until you find your AD domain anme, then add extra names, with their IP addresses - e.g. myps3 = 192.168.x.y
And then computers/devices that are accessing it by name should be able to find it. -
Well thats been done …
PS3 Media Server is Running on my NAS and is registered on my Local Domain and on the DNS as NAS.
Also permissions are in place on the firewall to allow PS3 Media Server on all networks ( Domain, Private and Public ).I think i might just pull the sever from the Domain to keep my sanity LOL
