Hi everyone I'm new in the forum and in the 'use of pfsense …
I would like to know, once set its ip to the lan card configured as a cable should be placed CROSS or not?
My problem is that the car must navigate on the Internet has an exclamation point on the 'icon of the network.
As a result I can not even get the pc with pfsense installed.
We also ask the network card of the PC that should go on the internet as it must be configured from the fact that the sheda Lan on pc with pfsense has the following setting:
      Lan: 192 168 168 192
      sub 24
      Gat. 192 168 168 254
and that on the PC connected to it that should go on the internet as to be configured?

Thank you all for your kind reply    ;D

Do not set a gateway on the LAN interface.

You may need a cross over cable if the LAN NIC is an older 10/100 type and you don't have a switch.

Hi, so I can not even get the ip of the pc with pfsense installed.      >:(
The installation is fine although I have a doubt as ever associated with the network adapters in USBUS0 and USBUS1?
Perhaps because the network card of the PC connected to the LAN is a 10/100/1000? and has compatibility issues with the Realtek 10/100 installed on the PC with pfSense?

            Thanks again

USBUS0 and USBUS1 are not network adapters.
What hardware are you using? Which version of pfSense are you running?

The two rtl8169D card should be supported by the rl(4) driver. They should appear as rl0 and rl1. The on board NIC should be supported by the nfe(4) driver and appear as nfe0.
Are you seeing any of those interfaces listed?

                  Please post the output of:

                  pciconf -l

Are you running from the LiveCD or have you installed to the HD?

It appeared to me in some tests the written RL0 RL1 and not only usb0 and USB1.
For the output of the command pciconf-l I have to wait but as soon as I can write it …
also with both the live and installed on hd the problem is the same (I can not get over the LAN with the pfsense web gui) and also interfaces "accidentally" are called usb0 and usb1 but sometimes rl0 and rl1 but whatever in any case there can not access the web gui

No nfe0 interface then? Is the on-board NIC enabled?

OK, so I see rl0 and rl1. I also see none2 which implies there is a none0 and none1 also.

Can you list those 'none' devices.

[2.1.1-PRERELEASE][root@pfsense.localdomain]/root(4): pciconf -lv | grep none
                          none0@pci0:0:31:3:      class=0x0c0500 card=0x27da8086 chip=0x27da8086 rev=0x01 hdr=0x00

Ok, well those 3 devices are part of the Nvidia chipset on that board. The SMBus and Audio components are not relevant. The memory controller is clearly working to some extent anyway.
The on board network card is not listed. I would expect to see it as nfe0 or if not then something at least listed as class 0x020000, network controller.

If you use the "option" 4 and "Reset to Factory defaults" what do you get listed as "Valid Interfaces" ?

Just curious, from which Country are you ? (do you speak Spanish ?)

Well, I can pretty clearly see nfe0 on this screenshot.

Doh!  ::) Not enough/too much coffee.

Ok, so assign nfe0 to LAN instead of your Realtek NICs that seem to be so flaky.

Thank you so much but I can not understand the last message that I can bring to the speech that I can not load the web gui on the LAN PC with pfSense.
And then, still in its availability, how should I proceed?

You do not need any webgui, you can assign if from console.
