      ]Hello Everyone PFsense newbie here
      Just installed PFsense.
      Following
      the Modem>Pfsense Box>Router/Switch>Clients Setup
Pfsense box Lan ip is 192.168.10.1
      Wan Ip is 192.168.10.3
and it's gateway is 192.168.10.254 which is also the gateway of my router
our ISP has given has a static ip addressing ranging from 192.168.10.1 to 253 since our gateway is 254
My Pfsense box seems to have no trouble in getting internet access and can access the web config
but I got no internet connection on my clients and when i do an ipconfig, gateway and ip for wan doesn't seem to match to what I assigned in the webgui

      any thoughts?

Totally broken, your WAN is the same network as LAN.

          Thanks for the reply

so if I change my Lan to 192.168.2.1
          would that work?
what would be the ip addressees for my clients then?

            try this.

your pfSense box should have 2 NICS on it..

nic1 should configured as WAN - DHCP from modem (it might give you something like 192.168.254.107)

            nic2 configure it as LAN - Static = 192.168.10.1

            for client set-up =

            192.168.10.11 for example
255.255.255.0 gateway should be 192.168.10.1 (the ip of the nic2 on pfSense)

just try it.. maybe it will work. :)

Hello Noriel. Thanks for the reply. I'm going to try that tomorrow when I get back to my office.
Just so you should know am using an onboard NIC and a pci one. Both are realtek and I am not sure if I am on right track upon installation but I assigned em0 for LAN and em1 for WAN.
If there's something wrong with the NIC , should I replace them? with what NIC then?
              I'd really appreciate for replies.
              Thanks

yes you should have 2 NICS.. 1Onboard and 1External is just fine.

yes NIC1 = WAN (DHCP from MODEM/Internet) = the modem will give you the IP address
                .
                .

NIC2 = LAN Static = you should set the IP address ( 192.168.10.1)

                .
on your client, set the IP in same network of your NIC2.. that should be 192.168.10.* (192.168.10.77) and the gateway is 192.168.10.1 (the IP of NIC2)

so in your client, it should look like this

                192.168.10.77
                255.255.255.0
                192.168.10.1

                .
                .
                .
try to configure it first.. if the network/IP configuration is set and correct but still not working, maybe its your NIC that cause the problem…try it first.

                .
                .
"""Intel Pro/100 and Pro/1000 cards tend to be the best performing and most reliable with pfsense software"""

Im using Intel pro/100 now as pfSense suggested to avoid any problem about the NIC. im a newbie :)

hope Im able to help you somehow.

I tried it. Didn't work. My wan interface should be my bridged adapter right at the virtual box network settings?
Our ISP originally gave us  a static ip, wouldn't that be a problem if i set my wan to dhcp?
