      from "Boot Troubleshooting" doc:

      Boot Blocks/Loader Issues
       bsdlabel -B /dev/ad0s1

      When i run this command, this error occurs:

      bsdlabel: cannot open provider /dev/ad0s1 for writing label: Operation not permitted
      bsdlabel: Try to use gpart(8).

      How can i solve the problem?

        Try running this first:

        sysctl kern.geom.debugflags=16

          thanks jim, but problem remains:

          [2.1-RELEASE][root@pfsense.localdomain]/root(1): sysctl kern.geom.debugflags=16
          kern.geom.debugflags: 0 -> 16
          [2.1-RELEASE][root@pfsense.localdomain]/root(2):ย  bsdlabel -B /dev/da0s1
          bsdlabel: cannot open provider /dev/da0s1 for writing label: Operation not permitted
          bsdlabel: Try to use gpart(8).

            Are you booting from that drive while you try to modify it?

            Or are you booting from CD?

            You'll have to boot from something else to make that work, I believe.
