Ever since upgrading from 2.1.1 (solid since 2.1.0) to 2.1.2, I'm getting a trap 12 error daily.

Its been running 2.1 in ESXi 5.5 (2 x vcpu, 2gb) for a long time without a single problem.

Any suggestions other than downgrading?  Ive submitted the crash report

I don't use VMWare ESX (just regular VMWare 7 desktop version), but I believe it supports VT-x/AMD-V and PAE/NX.

Some time ago I was getting a bunch of random trap 12 fatal errors. Since I've disabled PAE/NX and VT-x/AMD-V (hence, nested paging), I've got no errors at all.  :)

That might work. Try it out.  ;)

I've tryed disabling these options because of the error's description "page fault/page not present". Disabling just nested paging and leaving VT-x/AMD-V enabled might also work, but I haven't tested it.

Make sure the VM type and container match. If it's a 64-bit VM setup, use the amd64 version of pfSense. It's possible your config was pointed to the wrong architecture for the firmware update and switched itself. Set it back to amd64 and run an update for 2.1.4 and see if it stabilizes.
