DHCP and DNS server updates for clients

Is there any interest in support DNS server updates from DHCP?  I currently have an internal DNS server and would like to allow the firewall to update it with client registrations using an rndc.key and connection.  I'd like to add support for this but it would be limited to BIND.  Would supporting other DNS servers also be a requirement (such as M$)?
