      What is this, should I be concerned?

      This only started showing up in the newer 2.1.x versions

        Seems to be related to the bge(4) Broadcom driver. Do you have Broadcom NICs? What other hardware are you running?

          I have Broadcom nics, yes.

          It is an HP DL460 G4p server with a quad gigabit NIC installed.

          This makes a total of 6 NICs on the server.

          I have never seen this before in previous versions, only since the 2.1.x versions.

          What is the approach to take here?

            It's seemingly normal under some circumstances, if you aren't have any apparent issues, I'd just ignore it.

              @cmb:

              Can you elaborate on why you think it may be normal?

              I need to know so that I might suppress, resolve or at least explain to my client.

              If you can put me on the right path, I can take it from there.

                Google results where it shows up in dmesg with no related problem.
