      After an RC4 upgrade the system appears to be crawling. the respone of the Web GUI is Very slow and the box reports very high load averages

      snort will not run on this version. it starts then falls over. I suspect because of the high load averages, but this is under investigation. It has been temporarily removed.
      this top output is from accessing the dashboard although most pages cause this sort of response.

      system is a 1.1 Ghz Athlon with 640 MB RAM with low traffic

      on RC3 it very rarely went over a load average of 1 even with snort running.

      top output:

      last pid:  3823;  load averages:  2.33,  1.22,  0.88    up 0+00:31:08  14:01:11

                @mhab12:

                Any of you using squid?

                NO, Its not squid or any package causing the problem, I just ran a speed test with a fresh install showed my upload as 384K when its actually 1400K. Seems a had the same proplem with RC3 aa few months ago, but I had my RC2 cd around and just reloaded it,but my cd is now lost. I thought my P3 800 might not be enough, even though it has been,so I loaded it on a FX60 with 2 gigs of ram, still slow.
