Can't load ums: file not found
-
Hello,
During pfSense boot the message kldload: can't load ums: file not found is displayed. I may need that ums.ko file.Installed pfSense-LiveCD-2.2-DEVELOPMENT-amd64-20140711-0623 into a Foxconn nt-i2847 (Intel 847,NM10 and Asmedia ASM1042), MS Wireless 8000 keyboard, Anker usb3-gigabit dongle (ASIX 88179). The keyboard repeatedly detached/attached and was unusable. Using ttcp the ASIX was bell 103 slow. Pull ASIX, reboot, keyboard okay. Pull keyboard, reboot, ASIX better.
Installed FreeBSD-10.0-STABLE-amd64-20140712-r268571 into the machine. kldstat shows ums.ko loaded. Keyboard okay, ASIX maybe okay but seemed funny. I may need to test degree of funny later.
Duplicated the pfSense and FreeBSD installations on a G41/ICH7 machine that has a NEC pci card usb3. Machine change did not change the syndromes, but may have removed the ASM1042 from the problem set. This machine has a PS/2 port so I re-installed using PS/2 keyboard. Using PS/2 keyboard ASIX seemed okay in both pfSense and FreeBSD.
I have swapped usb ports and used varied ifconfig media settings but that data may not be relevant at this time.
So if the length of this post has not deterred the experts, I request help. Do I need ums.ko and if so, how do I get it?
FYI the 'usb to AX88772' topic does not apply. At the least the AX88179 did not work in 2.1 and is recognized as ue0 in 2.2 alpha and 10-stable releases. Also, as a hope I copied freebsd ums.ko into pfsense. That did not work.
Thank you in advance.
