I have attached the screenshot of the error which I get while starting Pfsense in Virtualbox. The booting stops and further modules are not loaded. If I force "poweroff" and restart again I don't get the error and Pfsense is booted normally. This error often repeats, so, what might be the possible reason?

I get this now and then as well.  It's inconsistent and hard to troubleshoot.  Are you running 4.3.12 or earlier?  Don't try 4.3.14 unless you like broken VMs.

I use Virtualbox 4.3.12 version. So according to you the error is due to Virtualbox box version and not with Pfsense.
Has anyone got same error in VMware Workstation or any other virtualization tools?

I got this error at KVM. I searched the web for causes and solutions and ended up that a bug in the KVM SeaBIOS caused this issue.
As recommended in the forums I replaced the BIOS with an older or newer one, don't know anymore, and since then pfSense starts fine.

For me it happen so infrequently that I can't be bothered spending the time to fix it.  Plus, I only use VirtualBox as a play lab.  For my real production work, I use vSphere 5.5 and I have never had this issue with VMware.
