Looking for recommendations for good SNMP monitoring software that is open source. Something easy to setup and monitor? I have heard nagios, but heard it may be difficult to setup? Any other suggestions?

nagios is not difficult, it's just that it's alot of work at first, defining templates, contacts, contact groups, commands, notifications etc…

If you want something simple you could look at one of the following:

I'm using cacti for SNMP/WMI monitoring, works great but it's also a lot of work to setup(depending on the things you want to monitor).

I use Zenoss on FreeBSD v6.2 to monitor servers, switches, routers, etc. -everything with an IP & SNMP- on the county government's WAN - we like it very much!
