I just received and successfully installed a pfSense VK-T40E and it is upgraded to pfSense 2.1.5-RELEASE.

In trying to get Squid and SquidGuard working, I got to a point where I wanted to start over as things were not working as I expected (my own fault, I'm sure).

I was easily able to uninstall squidguard, but when I try to uninstall squid 2.7.9 pkg v.4.3.4 I see the following sequence:

      Removing package...
      Starting package deletion for squid-2.7.9_3-amd64...done.
      Removing squid components...
      Tabs items... done.
      Menu items... done.
      Services... done.
      Loading package instructions...
      Deinstall commands...

No matter how long I let this run, it never seems to go to completion. Even after a reboot fo the box, the squid package is still listed as installed.

In the system log I see:

php: /pkg_mgr_install.php: PBI dir for squid-2.7.9_3-amd64 was not found - cannot cleanup PBI files

      What should I do next?

Try this from the shell or Diagnostics > Command in the shell execute box:

        fetch -o /usr/local/pkg/ https://packages.pfsense.org/packages/config/squid/squid.inc

        Then uninstall it again

Reset to factory defaults and started over before I saw your post. But thank you for the reply.
