RRD graph traffic artifact during upgrade
-
I've noticed for the 2.2 series, as I upgrade from one snap-shot to the next, my RRD traffic graph has impossibly high (for me) traffic spikes shown during the upgrade process. Upgrade is done by the auto-upgrade button on the system_firmware_check page.
It's more of an annoyance for me right now, but it obscures my real traffic levels until the spikes 'age off' the left side of the graph, and the graph autoscales back to a reasonable range.
Attached graph has an example: shows 600 Mbps spike on a 20 up / 3 down cable modem.
I will look into this, but I'm curious if others have seen it.

I've noticed that this artifact has stopped when upgrading, but I did a reboot (not part of an upgrade) and had a similar spike in my RRD graphs when pfSense came back online.
EDIT: After updating to new beta snapshot, it appears this was resolved.

Seems fixed for me as well, after this morning's update. Thanks!

It may have been fixed, but after updating to the latest snapshot, I'm seeing it again in my graph. Not sure if it was a result of the outgoing snapshot (2014-09-19) or the newly installed one (2014-09-23 13:29:41 CDT), but it's definitely there.

Hmm, it's back for me too. Although I didn't see any commits in the public repository that addressed this, I thought it was fixed in the tools repo when the problem disappeared last time. The issue has never been a 'come and go' thing, it was always there until last time.

Just want to add that this is still occurring…
I caught a glimpse of my console before it rebooted after my latest upgrade and noticed that the interfaces seemed to bounce down/up/down/up before the reboot... wondering if this might have something to do with it. Don't know if it was both interfaces (I only have two) or just one bouncing twice. I didn't get a good enough look at the screen to see what interface(s) it was.

This is related to a reboot, not an upgrade: For the first time I can remember, I rebooted a system via the gui, and the same artifact came up. Thought it was related to the upgrade, but that's (usually) the only time I reboot. System I rebooted was running:

Hi,
I have the same issue (but with queues RRD) on my 2.1.5-RELEASE (amd64) built on Mon Aug 25 07:44:45 EDT 2014
The wan connexion is 100Mbps symetric, and there were no clients at all in the lan network (both are different vlans on same interface), since the pikes on the graphs seems synchronized, something is going on somehere .. just can't figure what it is. Strangely, no spikes at all on the trafic graphs.
I know I'm in the wrong category, but it's the only topic I found about this. Note that I saw those kind of artifact as long as I used pfsense (from version 1.8 or 1.9 I think)
