I have recently built a unit based on Supermicro A1SRi-2558, with 8GB RAM, Intel SSD S3500, picoPSU 80W.

It serves a home network, with a 10/1 ADSL, 1 LAN (clear internet, 10 clients), 1 VPN (always on, 5 Clients), 1 DMZ (with random access).

I have positioned the fan, Noctua NF-A4x10 Flex (40x40x10) in the upper case above PSU, blowing directly to CPU @5000RPM. This is one of the 5 possible positions.

With case closed and after 24 hours of operation I have the following temps, from IPMI:

Did anyone put the fan differently with best results? Thank you for sharing.

      Modem Draytek Vigor 130
      pfSense 2.4 Supermicro A1SRi-2558 - 8GB ECC RAM - Intel S3500 SSD 80GB - M350 Case
      Switch Cisco SG350-10
      AP Netgear R7000 (Stock FW)
      HTPC Intel NUC5i3RYH
      NAS Synology DS1515+
      NAS Synology DS213+

Similar configuration here:  Supermicro A1SRi-2758, with 8GB RAM, Intel SSD S3500, picoPSU 80W, M350

Have a BlackSilent XM2 (40x10) mounted in the same position as you, temps attached.  I found that to be the best position.  I even tried 2 fans, one intake, one exhaust, that did not make much of a difference.

Jason Litca has a really nice custom air duct setup in another post, can't find it right now.
