      Good Day

I have 2 wan connections one capped and other uncapped.

The capped wan connection is the faster of the 2 with much better upload and download speeds.

So what i want to know is would it be possible to set up a fail over senario whereby once the cap is reached the traffic fails over the the back up link.

The problem we have is that the link doesn't go down when capped, we are able to ping and do tracert's just no other traffic goes through. so the conventional fail over setup didn't work.

Is there a way to do it or set a limit of traffic that is allowed to go over the one link before failing over to the other link?

all and any help would be most appreciated.

What you are trying to do is traffic metering.  You set a top-end limit to the amount of bandwidth that can be consumed before an event occurs.  The event could be a complete restriction or in your case a change to another route.

I don't think there is anything in pfSense that does metering like this, and I am not aware of any packages for pfSense that do this.  Someone smarter than me might be able to point you in the right direction.
