Todat I updated the Oct 26 beta to the Nov 3 beta.
Upon rebooting it keeps hanging on (I think) the USB stick detection.
      See screenshot for this.

Last time I updated the beta, it wouldn't boot either, but I didn't even have a screen on the serial terminal then.
So I rebooted and it worked. But not this time.

My hardware is a Soekris net6501-30 using a Sandisk 16GB USB stick (on of those really small things) and the i386 NanoBSD 4G (no VGA) image.

If it's a general USB thing then I will replace it with a mSATA SSD because updating takes a very long time (15 minutes or so) right now.

That is the point where the console output switches to the primary console. Apparently in your case, that is set to VGA somehow.

That is odd? But then at some point I should be able to login using the web page, shouldn't I?
And that isn't possible as well, so It becomes completely unusable.

Just as an extra piece of information, the update was done using the webpage.
So I didn't download a wrong update manually and applied it using the serial console.

When I get the two options on the pfSense logo screen it now wants to boot 1.
Does selecting 2 boot some older image by any chance?
Haven't tried it or read up about it, just thinking about it right now.

If you can get to the loader prompt, try running:

            set console=comconsole
            boot

I will have a look at it tonight.

Hope I can get it running again so I can export the configuration.
Bought a mSATA SSD to speed things up a bit. USB boot/update is waaaaay too slow.

Didn't get to it last night, so I am on it right now.
It's booting again, hence I can type this :-)

I did make a screenshot, because it looks like it is set to console anyway?
(Dont mind the #####'s. I was unsure what to press to make it stop booting…)
