As mentioned in times of 2.1-beta (https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=60567.msg326121#msg326121) I face problems with PPTP here.

Whenever pfsense is booted (for example after upgrading) my WAN does not reliably come up by itself.

I figured out that I can make it work by removing or saving the settings for the Default-WAN-gateway under "Routing" and/or chosing "Connect" in "Interfaces".

It would be more comfortable if I hadn't to do that  ;)

I expect you want me to show pptp-logs?

It sounds like maybe the default gateway isn't getting added from that description. Post-boot, what does Diagnostics>Routes show (if anything) for destination "default"? What does Status>Interfaces show for your WAN?

No "default" destination for ipv4 after boot, yes …
          Status>Interfaces for WAN: "down"

Removed gateway under Advanced>Routing and applied, then "Connect" in Interfaces>WAN ... comes up again (after a minute or so)

          Diagnostic>Routes shows now:

          default 213.129.xx.yy UGS 290 1492 pptp0

          thanks, Stefan

Ok so it's more than just missing a default route. What does the PPP log show (Status>System logs, PPP)?

I assume you mean "after a fresh reboot, without manual intervention" … ? This will take some time here ...  ;)

Yes, after a fresh boot before you fix it would be best.

Don't know if that helps … updated the page a few times without much new stuff ...

213.129.238.225 is my static IP (if things go online ...  ;) )

86.59.76.1 is a gateway which I only reach after the pptp-connection is up ...

Looks like it connects just fine initially, then you stop getting replies to your echo requests, indicating a dead connection. Are those logs entirely from before you fixed it? If so, what does it look like after fixing?

You mean I am too impatient?

You mean it would take >10 mins … ?
