Advice for a newbie in pfSense

hi everybody,
i need implement pfSense but reading in this forum i notice that i can't do Traffic Shaping and Squid on the same machine so i need two instance of pfSense.
if i use VMware Workstation the network configuration should be the next one. image attached

What's so special with squid that makes the need of doing traffic shaping with two instances of pfsense? i'm not familiar with squid at all.
can you provide some links that will get to the same conclusion that you are actually?

The configuration pictured seems ok. Have you tried setting it up? -
I am also curious where you found this info that says you can not traffic shape if you run squid on same box??

IIRC that were past problems. When Squid was in transparent mode then traffic shaping didn't work out.
But it wasn't my post and I cannot verify it currently.
