After a hearty Thanksgiving meal, I upgraded my 2.1.5 box to the 2.2 eta (AMD64) and quickly noticed that the "dig" command are missing. Is this intentional?

I did a find to see if was somewhere outside my path, and it doesn't appear anywhere..

dig was from BIND in base of FreeBSD which is now gone. Use drill instead.

I added this to the doc wiki: https://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/Dig_command_on_pfSense_2.2_and_later

        tl;dr version: drill, baby, drill.
