PfSense 1.2 Squid fails to start:

  • This is a system I have been maintaining and upgrading since pfSense was a beta 1.x.  I have tried removing Squid, deleting /usr/local/etc/squid, and re-installing.

    Here's my culprit:
FATAL: url_rewrite_program /usr/local/bin/squirm: (2) No such file or directory

Mar 3 03:01:01 kernel: pid 64743 (squid), uid 0: exited on signal 6 (core dumped)

Any help in repairing this is appreciated.

  • Looks like you've got other packages installed - did you by chance install any FreeBSD packages yourself (like squirm)/

  • Maybe you should reinstall the system with a 1.2 and restore the backuped config. I did so with a 1.0 beta1 last week and the config was upgraded just fine (didn't have a problem with it though, but as it was an embedded install so switching the cf-cards was pretty easy to do).
