      Has anyone done any testing with these 8-core C2758 devices as low-budget VM hosts perhaps on top of freenas shared storage?

      Seems like two or three of them on top of 12 disks could do a lot of work for cheap.

        They make a fine VM low-end host.  You just need to keep in mind that the single-threaded performance isn't great.

        I can break anything.

          Yeah I'm talking simple things like a Duo RADIUS proxy, Ubiquiti controller, maybe DNS, etc.  All the little VMs that don't require a lot of horsepower but need to work.
