Pfsense wan is configured for DHCP. My dhcp server logs shows DHCPREQUEST/DHCPACK entry for pfsense WAN interface every 15 seconds. This occurs only on one pfsense install and not others. Any idea what is causing DHCPREQUEST/DHCPACK entries?

You could look at /var/db/dhclient.leases.interface to see if that DHCP provider is doing something silly like a 15 second lease time.

Be careful.  Don't change the file.

You could also do a packet capture on WAN and see what's really happening.

The lease time is set to 1 day. /var/db/dhclient.leases.interface seems to be consistent with another pfsense install that does not spam the dhcp server log.

In the meanwhile, I have reserved a static ip on the dhcp server for this pfsense interface and that stopped the chatter on the line for now.

I will need guidance on how to examine packets on the wan for troubleshooting this. Thank you for your help.

You have a DHCP Server set up on your WAN interface?

WAN interface is configured as DHCP client so no dhcp server setup on WAN. DHCP server is running on a router and a static ip has been reserved for MAC address of pfsense wan to stop chatter on the line.
