Thanks for taking time to provide your comments and thoughts.
      Supermicro X9SCM-O
      Pentium G2030
      4GB 1333MHz ECC
Intel Quad port PCIe x4 NIC
choices for storage - WD HDD 500GB Blue? or Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB?
My current needs are firewall/router for small home 35/35 network.
Later on of course, I want the ability to play with packages, add a vpn maybe,
      and purchase more bandwidth.
The board I've purchased will allow for upgrades to cpu power as well as memory.
There's room for expansion on the PCIe for whatever I want to play around with.
I'm putting this in a nice Lian Li box with a Antec VP450 that I have laying about.
From mine to yours, have a safe and happy Holiday Season.
      Regards,
      BigDave

          Ok, I admit it, I love over-kill…
I just don't see this as being a character flaw ;D

Any thoughts on the SSD vs. Harddrive?

If you want easy and reliable, get a small Western Digital Black.
If you want cheap and probably reliable, get a MLC SSD and set the trim properly.

If you don't mind a little expense, get an industrial SLC SSD and treat it same as a normal HDD - Will last forever.
