Installation hangs when using HDMI / LiveCD installer
-
I am using the LiveCD image: pfSense-LiveCD-2.1.5-RELEASE-amd64.iso.gz burned to a CD-R.
version 2.1.5
64-bitIt hangs but it is hard to read what the issue is because part of the text is off the edge of the screen. CD verified working on another PC, does not hang on another PC.
Picture:
Workaround: Works if using the VGA output rather than the HDMI output. This issue happens when connected to HDMI.

Can you use the memstick iso and if so, do you see the same hang with HDMI then?
I've installed from memstick with HDMI onto intel nuc's without any problems using both 2.1.x 64bit as well as 2.2 beta's / rc's.
but it is hard to read what the issue is because part of the text is off the edge of the screen
This works for other models of viewsonics monitors.
Press 1 on the monitor, go to Input Select, change HDMI1/HDMI2 to "PC" as its probably on "AV" which means its setup for TV HDMI broadcasts so it hides broadcast data sent with the picture, PC will show HDMI on a 1:1 basis.
Your Plextor might also need special drivers loaded at boot as its a scsi cd drive, if freebsd is anything like windows which needs 3rd party scsi drivers installed during installation, like the infamous perc controller that comes with many a dell server.

I got it to work by choosing Option #3 at the boot menu (boot with USB). Thank you for the reply.
