    Trying to get Wii U to connect for Super Smash Brothers ( I think I am close)

      I followed this guide and it did not work.

      Then I tried opening all the UDP ports using the same technique mentioned in the guide.  It sometimes connects but most of the time it does not.  Then I opened all ports mentioned here.

      Still has same problem of only working some of the time.  I am not sure what is causing it to work some of the time but most of the time not working.

        My son plays MK8 and SSB online and never seems to have any trouble. I haven't done anything special aside from enable UPnP.

          I found the problem.  It had nothing to do with the router.  The VPN server I was connected to did not allow port forwarding.  I rerouted that particular device to a different vpn server that allowed port forwarding.
