System running slow…
-
So, I had the HDD in my PFSense box go bad, and I replaced it with an 8GB Sandisk Cruzer Fit USB drive.
I got the system all back up and running, but it seems like my connection on my wifi devices is really slow. Any ideas what could be causing that? Is it just a fluke?

unless you're using the embedded version you're going to hammer your flash drive and destroy it in a very short period of time.
Recommendation in to replace the failed hard drive. Chance are you're bottle necking on the USB port. -

Would I be better off to buy another 4GB CF Card and use the same carrier I was before? It was in an adapter that ran it over eSATA. If I go back to that, do you guys think it will speed things back up?
I had the USB drive sitting around not being used, and didn't have any CF Cards. I am happy to go buy a CF Card if you guys think it will make it faster.

Well, I hopped on Amazon.com and for $13.99 I got an 8GB Compact Flash card. I'll put that in the eSATA carrier and hope it speeds things up.

The speed of the boot drive should make vitually no difference to throughput when you're running Nano.
The only time it might is if you have some package running that needs to write to the drive, which you shouldn't on nano.Steve

yep, you are right stephenw10. I didn't think about him running nano. Well crap, and he already bought a 4GB CF. Personally I would have gone for 30GB or more and stuck with a ordinary HD, but that's me.
More questions to be had here.
What kind of wireless AP? PCI, PCI Express I assume?
What chipset?
What version of PfSense
When your wireless device connects to it what speed is your wireless device reporting if any?BTW, sorry about my other reply, wasn't thinking straight when I replied.
