    Upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit

      I currently and running pfSense 2.1.5, 32 bit. I want to perform a fresh install of pfSense 2.2, 64 bit.

      Is it okay to take the backup configuration of 2.1.5 (32 bit) and restore it on 2.2 (64 bit)? I would think it would be fine, but I want to be sure.

        Should be fine on a fresh install.  Yes.

        You only hit any difficulty if you attempt an auto-upgrade switch from 32 to 64 bit.

        As far as I know.

          I think they fixed all the RRD graph importing issues but when you take your backup you might want to take one without RRD data in case the one with RRD data doesn't work.

          I don't think it blows up the restore or anything and resetting RRD data used to clear it I think.

            Yes, it will be 100% fresh install.

            Thanks Derelict, I'll make a backup with and without the RRD data. I'm glad I asked! I appreciate your reponse.

              You should be fine! I just went from 2.1.5 32bit to 2.2 64bit… I had a spare hard drive so I did my fresh install on that.. Restored my config.xml (with RRD) and all is good... I have 4 years worth of system/packet/traffic RRD data  =D

              If you use packages... Uninstall them before you make the move to 2.2. Then install them one at a time.

                Hey Cino,

                Music to my ears! That's what I was going to do. Keep the old pfSense 2.1.5 drive and do a fresh new install on another drive. The old drive was a backup in case something would go belly up!
