Describe your scenario. What package you installed? What pfSense version, arch, clean install or upgrade,etc,etc etc…

FreeBSD 10.1-RELEASE-p4

clean installation. squid3 installed.

Try amd64 pfsense version and follow instructions I've posted on other pfsense2.2 squid3 topic
