      Hi,

I have the DHCP service running on five interfaces and a good amount of leases (I would guess around 1,000 or more at any given time). If I make changes to the DHCP service while it is running, the pfSense GUI hangs indefinetely. I tried to run top on the box and can initially see two php-fpm processes each consuming a full core. After a while one of them dies but the other continues to run at full blast. Meanwhile the GUI is totally unresponsive.`

If I stop the DHCP service before making changes it functions normally, although quite a bit slower than things usually respond in pfSense. This behaviour exists in both 2.1 and 2.2. I'm running in a CARP setup with DHCP failover enabled (and that works beautifully, by the way).

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

      Lars

Let it run for a bit longer and noticed that the DHCP service crashed on the box. I guess this is a bug.

Update: I've created a bug report on redmine: https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/4408

Update 2: Disabling DHCP failover solves everything. That's a workaround for now.

Leaving this topic for others with the same issues to find.
