Hi, i am setting up this new pfsense box to replace my current one that has an older motherboard and make a lot of noise, any how, i was looking for a dual network card by intel of corse and i saw some cheap ones $20 - $40 on ebay, and also i saw some expensive ones $100 - $200

My question is: would they work the same, i think there must be a difference, but i dont know what it is.  Could i setup my pfsense box with a cheap $25 dual Gb network card or should i put out the money for the more expensive one

      Here is one example:

Here is one i would like to get:

Either of those cards should work fine. Tempted to go for the Dell just because it has Intel written on it.

Does that use the em driver?

              Hello Elamigosam,

at first you will go with Intel based or original Intel NICs at best as I see it right,
but there are two different ones, desktopadapter and serveradapters
and the server adapters comes with a own DSP soldered on the NIC and this is taking
much load from the main CPU from the pfSense, and the desktop NIC is not doing this.

Some cheap ones $20 - $40 on ebay, and also i saw some expensive ones $100 - $200

              please see above.

For a home setup you can surely go with the cheaper ones.

I bought three of these for 9.99 each and all three work like a champ as a triple nic setup.
